Corneal cross-linking (CXL) is a treatment that prevents keratoconus from getting worse. It is successful in 90% of cases. The need for glasses or contact lenses does not disappear after treatment. The eye is still healing and scarred for at least a week after the procedure; therefore, vision is often blurry and hazy for the first few days, gradually improving. Many people who have this type of procedure can usually wear contact lenses and return to work a week after the procedure. It can be said that any surgery has risks. Cross-linking (CXL) is considered a safe procedure; however, there is a very small chance (approximately one in 30 cases) that a person's vision will decrease after the procedure.
